HAPPY NEW YEAR!

To all of you. Any interesting resolutions? For myself I decided I'm going to go thourgh my phone book and start deleting people that I only have vague and hazy memories of and make an effort to keep in touch with those that I care about. I figure that it's a more realistic resolution than stopping smoking, losing two thirds of my body weight etc. Can't cope with the disappointment again!

Oh, the Christmas party went really well. It's amazing how fairy lights and candles can transform the PSA. The Stables generously sponsored the food and some musicians from Gan Aimn played a set. This was followed by some very cheesy Christmas music before everyone headed over to the Stables and wherever after that.

So what's new in the PSA? New mugs that's what! Also, lots of paperwork! We are in the middle of an audit right now and I'm trying to get the P35 done for 2005. The PSA centre is fairly quiet these days (apart from lunchtimes) and I suppose that this is because many of the taught postgrads are off until February. It's strange to think that my year is half over now and I suppose I'll have to start postgrads thinking about running for the PSA for 06/07.

Plans for the next semester? I'm currently drafting a student satisfaction for postgrads and, in conjunction with the Graduate Studies Office, am setting up focus groups of postgrads that will hopefully run in week 3 of semester two. Based on the feedback from the survey and the focus groups, I hope to write a report and submit it to the powers that be within the University.

As for social events - two table quizzes are planned for the semester. I had hoped to do speed-dating this semester, but as the function room in the Scholars has remained closed, I'm at a loss as to where else would be a suitable venue. The major event of the semester will be the postgrad ball and I'm currently starting to organise that and am hoping to hold it at the end of March.

Right, I think that's all for now. Any comments, questions send them to the usual address.
