Maria McHale - A Voice for Postgrads

Well here I am three weeks into the job, and keeping busy! I've attended Governing Authority, Academic Council, Student Affairs and some other committee meetings. They have all finished now for the summer, so I can start to get into my own routine. And of course, I can finally update this page!

The main priority for the summer is to organise social events where everyone can relax and take a break from various dissertations and other work that they might have on. I organised a barbeque in the Kilmurry Lodge last night, and I think everyone was happy with the night. It was only 3.50 for a ticket, and this included a BBQ meal in the Lodge, and admission into the nightclub afterwards. There was traditional Irish music in Nelligans - although this was upstaged slightly by a large group of Spaniards! Members of Elikya, an African choir group, also performed at the end of the night. Afterwards, we moved downstairs to the Lodge club, where the rest of the night was whiled away!

That's all my news for now, as for news of other events, please sign up to the psa mailing list [see www.ul.ie/~psa] to keep fully informed. There will be an event in the Stables on 4th August, and hopefully another barbeque in the Lodge before the end of the summer.
